January is National Blood Donor Month, and while the month rightly celebrates the people who donate blood, it is also worth recognizing the nurses who help make the process safe and reassuring.

Before, During, and After the Donation

Nurses and other trained staff help screen donors, answer questions, monitor for reactions, and make sure people are cared for throughout the process. For nervous first-time donors, a calm and confident healthcare professional can make all the difference.

Every Donation Has a Destination

Donated blood may support trauma patients, surgical patients, people receiving cancer treatment, mothers with serious complications, and many others. Nurses often see firsthand how valuable those donations can be.

This month is a good reminder to thank both the donors and the healthcare teams who help turn those donations into care.

Nurses’ Week: More Than Donuts, You Deserve Recognition

Nurses’ Week is supposed to be about appreciation, but nurses deserve more than a stale sheet cake, a branded pen, or a once-a-year thank-you.
